After Your Surgery

After your surgery is complete and you are ready for discharge, you will continue your recovery at home. It is common to experience drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, or mild discomfort following surgery and anesthesia. Recovery varies by patient and procedure.

You will receive verbal and written discharge instructions. Please follow these instructions carefully. Because you will have received anesthesia, the adult accompanying you home must be available to receive discharge instructions before you leave the center.

If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For questions or concerns about your recovery, contact your surgeon’s office.

As part of our commitment to patient care, a member of our nursing team may contact you after discharge to check on your recovery and answer questions. Follow-up calls are generally made on business days.

Transportation

Do not plan to drive yourself home or use public transportation after your procedure. A responsible adult, such as a friend, relative, or caregiver, must accompany you home and remain with you for at least 24 hours following your procedure.
